Ammiak (1785), tsianid kislota (1786), vodorod sulfid (1788) tarkibini aniqlagan. Gazlamalarni xlor bilan oqartirishni tavsiya etgan va uning nomi bilan yuritiladigan Bertolle tuzi\u2014 kaliy xlorat (KS1O3) olish usulini kashf qilgan, uzluksizlik printsipini kimyoga tatbiq etgan.
