Odam organizmida sutkasiga taxminan 280 mg O&#8217;t pigmentlari hosil bo&#8217;ladi. O&#8217;t pigmentlari kislotali xususiyatga ega, metall bilan tuz (ba&#8217;zan erimaydigan) hosil qiladi. Shunga ko&#8217;ra, O&#8217;t pigmentlari o&#8217;t toshi hosil bo&#8217;lishida ahamiyatli. O&#8217;t pigmentlari nafas, qisman siydik bilan chiqariladi, shuning uchun ulardan qator kasalliklarni aniqlashda foydalaniladi.
