Boshoqchasi va shakliga qarab quyidagi kenja turlarga bo&#8217;linadi: Efiopiya jo&#8217;xorisi (S. durra ssp. aethiopicum); Nubiya jo&#8217;xorisi (S. durra ssp. nubicum); Arabiston jo&#8217;xorisi (S. durra ssp. arabicum). Bo&#8217;yi 2-3 metrga boradi. Issiqsevar, qurg&#8217;oqchilikka bardoshli. Guli g&#8217;uj joylashib (oq jo&#8217;xoriga o&#8217;xshash) ro&#8217;vak hosil qiladi. Ro&#8217;vagining zichligi, tik o&#8217;sganligi, barmoqsimon to&#8217;pguli bilan oq jo&#8217;xoridan farq qiladi. Durra AQSh, Afrikaning tropik mintaqalarida, Afg&#8217;oniston, Janubiy Yevropa mamlakatlarida, Yaponiya va O&#8217;rta Osiyoda ekiladi. O&#8217;sish davri 3-4 oy. Durra sug&#8217;oriladigan yerlarda g&#8217;alla ekini sifatida ekiladi. Durraning uni deyarli oq. Quruq poyalari chorva mollariga beriladi. Yashil maysasida zaharli durrin glikozidi, ba&#8217;zilarida tsianid kislota bo&#8217;ladi.
