Ular qahramonlari hayotning bema&#8217;ni, tuturiq-sizligini his qilib yashovchi va insoniyatning yaqinlashib kelayotgan halokati haqidagi o&#8217;ylar tufayli dahshatga tushib qolgan, ham ma&#8217;naviy, ham jismoniy majruh kishilardir. &#171;Molloy&#187; (1951), &#171;Malon o&#8217;lyapti&#187; (1951), &#171;Nomsiz&#187; (1953) romanlarida &#171;ong oqimi&#187; adabiyoti (G&#8217;arbiy Yevropa adabiyotida 20-asr boshidagi ijodiy tamoyil \u2014 ruhiy-ma&#8217;naviy hayot jarayonlarini bevosita, muallif ishtirokisiz aks ettirish) an&#8217;analari namoyon bo&#8217;lgan. &#171;Halokat&#187; (1982) pyesasida san&#8217;atkor erki haqidagi fikr ilgari surilgan.
