Embriogenezda Epiteliy har uchchala murtak varaqlaridan hosil bo&#8217;ladi va tana qoplog&#8217;ichi, ularning hosilalari hamda ko&#8217;pchilik bezlarning hosil bo&#8217;lishida qatnashadi. Ko&#8217;p qavatli Epiteliyning faqat ichki qavati bazal membrana bilan qoplangan (teri Epiteliysi), oraliq (2 qavatli) Epiteliyning tashqi ko&#8217;rinishi organ devori cho&#8217;zilishiga qarab o&#8217;zgarib turadi (masalan, qovuq, siydik chiqarish yo&#8217;li Epiteliysi). Sekretor Epiteliy esa bezlarda bo&#8217;ladi. Epiteliy hujayrasining tuzilishi uning sekretorlik funktsiyasi bilan bog&#8217;liq. Epiteliy shakliga binoan, yassi, kubsimon va tsilindrsimon bo&#8217;ladi. Shimuvchi Epiteliy hujayrasi sirti tuksimon jiyakli, hilpillovchi Epiteliyda hilpillovchi kipriklar bo&#8217;ladi. Himoya funktsisini bajaruvchi Epiteliy uchun muguzlashish xususiyati, bezli epiteliy uchun donador endoplazmatik to&#8217;r va Golji kompleksining rivojlanishi xos.
