Tsellyuloza makromolekulalarida angidroglyukoza zvenolari bilan bir qatorda boshqa monosaxarid (geksozalar va pentozalar) hamda uron kislota bo&#8217;lishi mumkin. Tsellyuloza, asosan, ba&#8217;zi o&#8217;simlik urug&#8217;lari tukida, masalan, chigit tukida (97-98%), yoyuchda (40-50%, quruq modda hisobida), kanop poya tolasi, o&#8217;simlik qobig&#8217;ining ichki qatlami (masalan, zig&#8217;ir, ramida 80-90%, jutda 75% va hokazolar), bir yillik o&#8217;simlik poyalari (qamish, makkajo&#8217;xori, boshoqli o&#8217;simlik, kungaboqar)da 30-40% bo&#8217;ladi. Tsellyulozani ajratib olish usuli o&#8217;simlik materialining tarkibi va tuzilishiga bog&#8217;liq. Paxta tolasidan Tsellyulozani olishda yumshoq usul qo&#8217;llanadi. Paxta tolasi o&#8217;yuvchi natriy (Iaon)ning 1,5\u20143% li eritmasi bilan 3-10 ATM. bosimda 3-6 soat qaynatilib, oksidlovchilar bilan oqartiriladi. Sulfitli qaynatish usuli yuqori sifatli qog&#8217;oz va karton tayyorlashda, sulfatli qaynatish usuli esa buklamali (gofrirli) karton, qop qog&#8217;ozi tayyorlashda qo&#8217;llanadi. Tsellyuloza oq rangli tolali material, zichligi 1,52\u20141,54 g\/sm3 (20\u00b0da). Kimyoviy tabiatiga ko&#8217;ra, Tsellyuloza ko&#8217;p atomli spirtdir. Makromolekula elementar zvenosida gidroksil guruhi bo&#8217;lganligidan Tsellyuloza ishqoriy metallar va asoslar bilan reaktsiyaga kirishadi. Tsellyulozaga kontsentrlangan ishqor eritmasi ta&#8217;sir ettirilganda kimyoviy reaktsiyalar bilan bir qatorda fizik-kimyoviy jarayonlar ham kechadi, ya&#8217;ni Tsellyuloza bo&#8217;kadi. Tsellyulozaning kontsentrlangan NaOH eritmasi bilan reaktsiyaga kirishishidan to&#8217;qimachilik sanoatida sun&#8217;iy tolalar va oddiy Tsellyuloza efirlari ishlab chiqarishda foydalaniladi. Yangi qimmatli texnik xossalarga ega bo&#8217;lgan Tsellyuloza materiallari olishda tikilgan sopolimerlar sintezining amaliy ahamiyati muhim. Masalan, polielektrolitlar (poliakril kislota, polimetil vinilpiridin) bilan tikilgan Tsellyuloza sopolimerlardan ion almashingan to&#8217;qimalar, tolalar va plyonkalar sifatida foydalanish mumkin. Tsellyuloza makromolekulasining oddiy zvenosida gidroksil guruh borligi uchun ulardan oddiy va murakkab efirlar olish mumkin.
