Ishqoriy-yer metallar \u2014 kuchli qaytaruvchilar, lekin ishqoriy metallarga qaraganda birmuncha kuchsizroq. Ular kimyoviy jihatdan ancha faol bo&#8217;lib, havoda oson oksidlanadi. Bunda RO ko&#8217;rinishidagi asosli oksidlar hosil bo&#8217;ladi, ularga R(OH)2 tuzilishidagi asoslar muvofiq keladi. Ishqoriy-yer metallar vodorod bilan birikib, umumiy formulasi RH2 bo&#8217;lgan gidridlar hosil qiladi.
