Birinchi hikoyalar to&#8217;plami \u2014 &#171;Jazirama&#187; (1952). Asarlarida demokratik tendentsiya kuchli. Boylik va qashshoqlik o&#8217;rtasidagi kurash Yashar Kamol asarlarining asosiy yo&#8217;nalishini tashkil etadi. &#171;Tog&#8217;lar afsonasi&#187; (1973) romantik qissasi folklor ta&#8217;sirida yuzaga kelgan. Asarda o&#8217;tmishdagi Turkiya hayoti, odamlarning bir-biriga munosabati, axloqiy urf-odatlar mahorat bilan aks ettirilgan.
