Ammiakdagi nechta vodorod atomi radikalga almashinganiga qarab, birlamchi, ikkilamchi va, nihoyat, uchlamchi Aminlar deyiladi. Aminlar molekulasidagi aminoguruh soniga qarab mono- Aminlar, Di- Aminlar va uch- Aminlarga bo&#8217;linadi. Ular, ammiak singari, asos xossalarini namoyon qiladi, lekin aromatik Aminlar ammiakka nisbatan ancha kuchsiz, alifatik Aminlar esa kuchli bo&#8217;ladi. Aminlar, odatda nitrobirikmalarni qaytarish yoki uglevodorodlarning galogenli hosilalariga ammiak ta&#8217;sir ettirish yo&#8217;li bilan olinadi. Ular ichida eng ahamiyatlisi aromatik Aminlardir. Uni ilk bor 1842 yilda N. N. Zinin sintez qilgan. 1849 yilda esa Sh. Vyurs alifatik Aminlarni kashf qildi. Aminlarning ba&#8217;zilari tabiatda erkin holda alkaloidlar, aminokislotalar tarzida uchraydi.
