Van Gog ijodi Yevropa madaniyatidagi murakkab burilish davrini o&#8217;zida aks ettirdi. 1880-yillarning 1-yarmida qoramtir, xira ranglarda mehnat axli (xususan shaxtyorlar, dehqonlar, hunarmandlar) ga hamdardlik bilan yo&#8217;g&#8217;rilgan asarlar yaratdi (&#171;dehqon ayol&#187;, &#171;kartoshka xo&#8217;randalari&#187;, 1885 va boshqalar).
